In the photo with Matt were Robert Glenister, who played Ash “Three Socks” Morgan, Matt’s on screen sister Kelly Adams and Michael Stone aka Mickey Bricks actor Adrian Lester.
Rob Jarvis, who starred as barman Eddie, had been superimposed into the photo.
Hustle was based around a group of con artists who specialised in the “long con” – a scam on a “mark” which played out over days or weeks and offered a lucrative return.
Fans rushed to comment on Matt’s photo, with one writing: “I would honestly scream if Hustle came back in any fashion.”
Another said: “Please say more Hustle I’ll cry.”
Someone else wrote: “Omg yes please!”
And a fourth simply asked: “When???”
Matt and Kelly, who played Sean’s sister Emma, joined the show from series five, taking over from Marc Warren and Jaime Murray, who starred as Danny Blue and Stacie Monroe.
Top Boy star Ashley Walters joined the cast for one series, playing Billy Bond in series four.
Legendary actor Robert Vaughn, who passed away in 2016, starred in every series, playing Albert Stroller.
Hustle originally aired on BBC1 from February 2004 until February 2012.
Adrian previously admitted he didn’t think a Hustle movie would ever happen, saying: “I’d rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can’t believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
