STRANGER Things fans believe they have solved the mystery of how Hopper miraculously escaped the Upside Down before being arrested by the Russians.

The policeman said an emotional farewell to Joyce (Winona Ryder) when he appeared to be sucked into a vortex which would have trapped him in the alternate universe.

Stranger Things fans believe they know how Hopper escaped the Upside Down

However, a teaser clip for the new series showed he is alive but is stuck in Kamchatka, Russia.

But after watching the final episode of series three, one Reddit user believes they are able to explain how Hopper managed to survive (David Harbour).

The user was referring when Hopper supposedly died during his effort to close the gate to the Upside Down.

The fan wrote: “This scene from the last episode of season 3 clearly shows a ladder to climb down the platform,. and that’s how I think hopper escaped successfully from there.”

Just below the entrance to the upside down, there is in fact a ladder which the copper might have used to get out of harm’s way.

What does the future hold for Hopper in series four? Will he be reunited with the gang once again?

While we wait to find out, the actor David Harbour has lifted the lid on his Stranger Things co-stars’ struggles with tech ahead of Netflix‘s fourth series.

The actor has been keeping up with his fellow cast members via video call throughout the global coronavirus pandemic.

Posting pictures of the group call, Harbour told his 6.1million Instagram followers: “Tis the season for both young and old dorks to meet in a tavern and attempt to slay mighty technical glitches.”

Another shot showed the ensuing messages to Wolfhard, who complained: “It crashed five times.

“Am I supposed to gain this Vimeo link…No one is telling anything.”

David unhelpfully replied: “I clearly have less of a clue than anyone.”
