Bobby is best known for his role as Freddie,  son of Maureen “Little Mo” Slater in EastEnders.

Speaking about hitting the Strictly dancefloor, he told BBC Breakfast: “I’m excited for a change, I love to dance. To perform live will be scary, daunting, but there’s a real difference between acting and dancing live and having time to prepare.

“It is going to be a rush I haven’t felt before. I just like to party that’s it really, house and disco. I have good rhythm but as far as ballroom and Latin, in terms of proper dancing, I’ve not done much.”

He added that he had dressed up as a pumpkin for EastEnders so the sequins on Strictly will not put him off.

Bobby, born to Jade and TV star Jeff Brazier, first started work as a model but has since turned to acting.

Jade shot to fame on Big Brother in 2002 and died of cervical cancer in 2009.

Reflecting on how she would view his soap career, Bobby said she would be “so proud.”

He added: “Dad’s just happy I’m earning and paying rent.”

Bobby lives with his father Jeff and brother Freddie.

The Strictly line-up so far also includes BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast Show host Nikita Kanda and Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas, with actress Amanda Abbington, Bad Education star Layton Williams and broadcaster Angela Rippon also announced.

They will be joined on the dance floor by journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy, comedian Eddie Kadi, Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon and former Love Island star Zara McDermott.

Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be back to host the show this year when it returns to screens in the autumn.
