Strictly Come Dancing is facing a crisis as contestant Adam Thomas was unable to attend a training session ahead of the first public vote-off. The former Emmerdale star, who is partnered with Russian dancer Luba Mushtuk, cited his busy work schedule as the reason for his absence.

Adam, 35, is currently juggling his commitments on Strictly Come Dancing with filming for Waterloo Road. The actor has been playing the character Donte since the show's inception in 2006 and returned to the series when it was rebooted last year.

In an interview on the podcast Mancs on the Mic, Adam hinted at a potential "show curse" affecting him and Luba. He compared the professional dancer to his wife Caroline and jokingly stated that the "curse" had already happened. However, he quickly backtracked, causing amusement among his two brothers who were also present during the podcast.

Despite his training setback, Adam and Luba managed to perform the Cha Cha Cha to Waffle House by the Jonas Brothers last Saturday. However, moments before taking the stage, the Waterloo Road star confessed to forgetting the routine and feeling extremely nervous. Fortunately, he was able to rely on his muscle memory to get through the performance.
