STRICTLY Come Dancing’s sexy new signing accidentally let slip he’s joining the show during an interview for Italian TV.
Vito Coppola, who currently appears on Ballando con le Stelle – Italy’s version of Strictly – was quizzed by TV presenter Milly Carlucci about joining the BBC version during a chat.
Accidentally confirming he’d signed up to Strictly before any official announcement, Vito said: “It was a sudden thing, I’m putting my ideas in order, but I’m happy and I can’t wait.
“[The BBC] were very fascinated by what we did at Ballando, they saw the videos, what we create.
“Thanks to you, Milly, and all the Ballando family, who have rooted for me.”
Congratulating him on the move, Milly – who hosts Ballando con le Stelle – insisted: “It is important that our Italian boys gain experience abroad.
“Going abroad opens your head and teaches you new things.”
A Strictly spokesperson declined to comment.
Vito will dance alongside the line up of professional dancers when the show returns to BBC One this autumn.
The current pro line up includes Kai Widdrington, Nikita Kuzmin, Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell, Giovanni Pernice, Gorka Marquez, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Graziano Di Prima, Nadiya Bychkova, Nancy Xu and Neil Jones.
Cameron Lombard, Jowita Przystal, Luba Mushtuk are also in the line up but didn’t get celeb partners last year.
Vito only joined the Italian version of the show in 2021, but won in his first year with Italian singer Arista.
The pair were hit by the show’s famous Strictly curse and started dating after the show – although recent reports in the Italian media claim the relationship is on the rocks.
