Shirley Ballas and the rest of the team will be on 5.40pm on BBC One

The BBC dance hit will be on screens at 5.40pm tonight to make way for a World Cup match straight after.

Strictly viewers will learn who is going from the competition this week in a 40-minute show on Saturday night.

Argentina will play Australia live from Qatar straight after, with coverage from 6.20pm and kick-off at 7pm.

Strictly rarely airs so early in the evening – last week’s Saturday night trip to the ballroom was on at 7.15pm, when the BBC didn’t have any World Cup action to show.

The football tournament is being held in the winter this year as a one-off so players don’t have to contend with the scorching heat in Qatar.

Though the BBC’s dance hit does jump around with the time its on, Strictly has never been dislodged from Saturday night before.

Last night saw the return of Musicals Week with Will Mellor and Helen Skelton at the top of the leaderboard.

Meanwhile people’s favourite Hamza Yassin and Kym Marsh were in the danger zone for the dance-off.
