Strictly Come Dancing Star Kevin Clifton Makes Sensational Return to Show After Four-Year Hiatus

After nearly four years since his departure, Strictly Come Dancing legend Kevin Clifton is set to make a sensational comeback to the popular BBC One show. The pro dancer shocked fans when he announced his departure in early 2020, but now he's back in action.

Kevin Clifton Returns as Choreography Expert

While Kevin won't be returning to the main show, he is taking on an exciting new role as the resident choreography expert on the spin-off series, Strictly: It Takes Two. He will be filling in for his sister Joanne Clifton, who typically holds the position.

Juggling his commitments, Joanne is currently touring the country in Shrek The Musical, making it impossible for her to fulfill the role all the time. Kevin has stepped in to ensure the family tradition continues.

During the announcement made by It Takes Two host Fleur East, she mentioned the family connection, saying, "Choreography corner is a family affair this year, isn't it Joanne?" To which Joanne responded, "Yes, it's someone called Kevin, dunno if you know him, he came second in 2016 when I won."

A Star-Studded Dancing History

Kevin's sister Joanne previously competed as a professional dancer on the main Strictly series and emerged as the champion in 2016 alongside BBC presenter Ore Oduba. Kevin himself had a successful stint on the show, winning the coveted Glitterball trophy in 2018 with now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley.

Kevin's Farewell and Life After Strictly

Kevin Clifton bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing in early 2020 after an impressive seven-year run. Following his win in 2018 alongside Stacey Dooley, he decided to leave the show. In an emotional message shared at the time, he expressed his gratitude to the Strictly family and reflected on the amazing experiences he had on the show.

Since leaving Strictly, Kevin has ventured into the world of musicals, starring in productions such as Singing In The Rain and Strictly Ballroom. He has also welcomed a baby daughter named Minnie with his girlfriend Stacey in January.
