Training Time Restrictions
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are implementing stricter rules for celebrities and professional dancers by capping their training hours. The weekly cap, reintroduced this year, limits pairs to approximately 48 hours of practice per week. This move aims to create a fair competition environment, with each pairing free to allocate these hours as they see fit, as long as they do not exceed the total weekly limit.
Celebrity Complaints
Some celebrity contestants have previously voiced concerns about the demanding schedule of the show, with former Love Island host Laura Whitmore hinting at dissatisfaction with the extensive time spent with her dance partner. The training cap, initially introduced last year to ensure fairness, has been reinstated for the upcoming season to address these issues.
Chaperones Introduced
In response to recent abuse allegations involving professional dancers, including Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, Strictly will now provide chaperones for pairs during training sessions. This new addition, costing around £250,000 for the series, aims to safeguard participants and maintain a safe training environment. Towie star Pete Wicks was recently seen with his chaperone during rehearsals, highlighting the implementation of this measure.
