Strictly Come Dancing's Nick Knowles left with hefty bill after injury

TV presenter Nick Knowles has had to pay thousands for treatment for his knee injury sustained during his time on Strictly Come Dancing, as the BBC show's insurance did not cover it. The DIY SOS star, 62, tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a rehearsal for this year's series. Despite the injury, Nick remains optimistic about his recovery.

Personal expense for operations

Nick Knowles shared updates on his injury, mentioning that he had to cover the cost of his operations himself. He expressed gratitude for the support from his fiancée and his determination to walk normally again in time for his upcoming projects. The presenter also detailed the various treatments and therapies he is undergoing to aid in his healing process.

Long recovery journey

Before his knee injury, Nick faced another obstacle when he hurt his bicep while changing a car tyre on the motorway, which also required surgery. Despite the challenges, he continued to push through and perform on the show. Unfortunately, he and his partner Luba Mushtuk were eliminated from Strictly after landing in the bottom two.

Expensive road to recovery

Nick's medical expenses are said to be substantial, with some private ACL operations costing up to £8,000. A friend of the presenter expressed Nick's disappointment over the injury affecting his time on the show and the costly recovery ahead. While Strictly contestants have some coverage under the show's insurance, not all injuries are included, and they are also advised to have personal insurance.
