Hopeful for Tonight's Performance
Strictly star Jody Cundy is set to take the stage tonight after a terrifying 4am hospital dash earlier in the day. A spokesperson for the show expressed hope that Jody will be able to perform tonight, but also mentioned that there are contingency plans in place should he be unable to do so.
Contingency Plans in Place
The BBC has confirmed that contingency plans have been made in case Jody is unable to perform tonight's routine. While Jody and his dance partner Jowita Przystal are optimistic that he will be back on the dance floor this weekend, there are provisions in place for a potential free pass to the following week.
Previous Instances of Contestants Missing Performances
It is not uncommon for contestants on Strictly to receive a free pass to the next week if they are unable to perform due to injury or illness. Past contestants such as Judy Love, Tom Fletcher, and Kym Marsh have all had the opportunity to escape elimination under similar circumstances.
Health Scare for Jody Cundy
Jody Cundy, a 44-year-old Paralympian who had a leg amputated at the age of three, experienced a health scare this week. He woke up in the middle of the night to find his leg swollen and infected. Jody quickly went to the hospital where he received antibiotics for the infection.
Working Towards Recovery
Despite the setback, Jody remains optimistic and focused on his recovery. He was unable to put on his prosthetic legs due to the swelling in his limb. However, he expressed that his leg is healing and getting better, with the swelling gradually going down.
Last week, Jody and Jowita performed an elegant quickstep routine, earning them a score of 21 points from the judges. Shirley Ballas praised Jody's frame, calling it the best among the contestants so far.
