Andrew Castle emerges victorious in battle with neighbors over new luxury home

Former tennis star Andrew Castle has successfully won a dispute with neighbors to construct a lavish £5 million residence complete with swimming pools. Despite his triumph, the ex-GMTV host's plans for a tennis court have been vetoed.

Neighbours' objections and council's decision

The Wimbledon commentator, aged 61, proposed to replace a 1930s period cottage with a much larger luxury home. However, his adjacent neighbor raised objections to the "wholly unacceptable" and "inappropriate" development, citing concerns about privacy and overlooking issues. Despite Castle and his wife Sophia revising the designs to address some of these concerns, objections persisted.

Local council officials have ultimately approved the plans, stating that the development aligns with the area's character and will not negatively impact neighboring properties.

New features and previous property sale

The new property will feature an outdoor swimming pool, pool house, and sauna, replacing the existing three-bedroom cottage. Castle, who previously sold his nearby home for £7.5 million, is set to make way for a modern, upscale residence with additional amenities.
