Strictly stars kept awake on tour by gang of boy racers outside hotel

STRICTLY stars were kept awake on the last leg of their live tour by boy racers using streets around their hotel as a racetrack.

Booming exhausts were heard echoing into the early hours, with one local comparing the bangs to “like living in World War Two”.

Pro dancer Nikita Kuzmin, 25, moaned he got only 20 minutes of shut-eye before waking at around 6am to film CBBC’s Saturday Mash-Up! programme.

The sleepless nights for the stars come at the end of a run of 32 shows in 24 days across the UK.

A source said: “Some struggled to get forty winks, but they were not letting a few idiotic drivers dampen their spirits and were determined to end the tour on a high.”

Cops patrolled near the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel, where the BBC dancers were staying in Glasgow, on Saturday.

They were seen speaking to local residents about their concerns and monitoring a group of young people stood by modified Ford Fiesta and Mercedes A-class motors.

It is believed to have followed reports of anti-social driving on Friday — but officers described it as a “problem hotspot for years”.

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to a report of cars racing in the Blythswood Square area of the city on Saturday.

A spokesman said: “Officers attended and there was no trace.

“We are aware of issues relating to car racing in the area and officers carry out regular patrols. This kind of behaviour is dangerous and unacceptable.”

The Strictly live tour came to an end yesterday with two shows.
