BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker has revealed the surprise career switch he’d choose if he wasn’t on telly.
The news show anchor, 44, who strutted his stuff in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, has opened up on his alternative life plans in a chat on his Instagram Stories.
One of Dan‘s followers asked: “What job would you do if you had to change your career?”
He uploaded a snap showing him travelling on a train and wearing a mask, as he replied: “I would love to cut the grass for the council.
“I’d love to be on one of those ride-on mowers,” before adding a laughing Emoji icon face.
In another Instagram slide he told how he would love to host “both” a quiz show and a chat show.
In 2016, Dan replaced Bill Turnbull as presenter of BBC Breakfast.
His first show aired on February 29 and he co-presented the programme with Louise Minchin before her departure.
Dan hit the headlines in 2018 after his salary revealed he earns almost double the amount of his female co-presenter.
However, Dan pointed to the fact that his earnings come from fronting multiple shows.
Dan has hosted BBC’s Football Focus since taking over from Manish Bhasin in August 2009.
He also presents on BBC Radio 5 Live and regularly reports for Final Score and Match Of The Day.
Dan has also been a main part of the BBC Sport team covering both the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Dan revealed in April 2021 that he was leaving Football Focus after 12 years.
He teased he quit because there were “one or two exciting opportunities” coming his way.
Shortly after, he starred in Strictly Come Dancing with professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.
