SUSANNA Reid has confirmed that today is her LAST on Good Morning Britain as she joked about “taking a sabbatical”.
The 50-year-old star dropped the bombshell while co-hosting with Ben Shephard today, and he teased: “Happy days!”
The pair had been discussing their upcoming interview with Adam Woodyatt, who is currently taking a break from EastEnders after 35 years on the soap.
Ben said: “He’s taking a sabbatical, you can do that if you’ve been at a place long enough – you can get a bit of a sabbatical.”
Susanna replied: “I’ll tell you what, I’m taking a sabbatical for the summer – today’s my last day!”
While Charlotte Hawkins gasped, Ben playfully giggled: “Ah, happy days!” before adding: “No, no – we will miss you.”
Rolling her eyes, Susanna laughed: “God, that took a while.”
The TV favourite is the last of the ITV morning crew to go on her summer break, with Lorraine Kelly, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Alison Hammond, and Dermot O’Leary already leaving our screens until September.
Ranvir Singh has taken over Lorraine’s morning show, whereas fan favourites Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have returned to This Morning.
Susanna’s break comes after she took a cheeky swipe at former co-host Piers Morgan on Twitter.
The pair appeared on our screens together for five years before he sensationally quit the breakfast show in March.
PIERS CLASH
At the weekend, Piers revealed he’d been battling coronavirus after contracting the life-threatening illness at the Euro 2020 final – and it had left him bed-bound.
However, as he squabbled with fans on his popular Twitter page last night, Susanna couldn’t resist quipping: “Something tells me you’re definitely recovered…”
Piers giggled in response: “The steroids have kicked in..”
The star attended the match with his three sons, and oldest Spencer previously revealed they’d reunited with Susanna in the stands at the semi-final.
The pair haven’t been publicly seen together since the 56-year-old star sensationally quit the ITV breakfast show in March after storming off set.
Piers and Susanna presented GMB together for five years, and he previously revealed she was “angry” at him for quitting – so punished him with a “frosty” farewell on the show.
However, they have since rekindled their friendship, with Piers saying in March: “I hope we stay friends because Susanna’s a decent person and we’ve been through a lot together.”
He also revealed that Susanna had phoned him to “clear the air”, and apologised for how tone on the programme.
She then promised they would go for a celebratory lunch where she would break her two-year alcohol abstinence.
