Susanna Reid forced to be replaced on Good Morning Britain after losing her voice at NTAs

Good Morning Britain had to scramble to make a last-minute change to its presenting lineup when Susanna Reid lost her voice at the National Television Awards.

Charlotte Hawkins steps in

Charlotte Hawkins was called in to partner Ed Balls after Reid was unable to speak. The sudden change in lineup was announced at the top of the show, with Hawkins admitting, "This is a bit of an unscheduled appearance for me this morning."

Ed Balls baffled

Ed Balls, who had seen Reid earlier in the morning, expressed his confusion over the switch. He said, "I came into the studio as usual about 4:30am. Walked past Susanna Reid's dressing room. There was Susanna, as always, in her white dressing gown, getting ready for the show to come. This feels like a bit of a change!"

Susanna Reid's voice troubles

According to Hawkins, Reid had lost her voice and was present in the building. Reid, wearing a glamorous red dress at the event, explained, "I'm fine, I just can't speak! I don't know whether it was the heat, inflaming my vocal cords. It's funny because of course it was the NTAs last night and when I got my cab to leave, the driver said: 'You're the very first person to leave the NTAs, you're obviously not partying'. Of course, I don't drink, I don't smoke, so there's no reason I can understand why I've completely lost my voice."

Apologies from Susanna

Reid apologized to viewers and thanked Hawkins for stepping in, saying, "I didn't want to inflict this on our wonderful viewers for a whole three hours."
