SUSANNA Reid has promised to get drunk with Piers Morgan for a belated Good Morning Britain leaving do after going sober for two years.
The 50-year-old ditched booze to help fix a skin condition – and ended up losing two stone.
Despite initially doing it on a trial basis, Susanna ended up giving up alcohol permanently.
But the Good Morning Britain presenter does admit to having a tipple on special occasions.
Writing for the Mail on Sunday, Piers today revealed Susanna was “angry” with him for quitting GMB and punished him with “frosty” farewell on air.
She later apologised – and promised they would meet up for a boozy lunch to mark the end of an era.
“Susanna rang for a long clear-the-air chat,” said Piers.
“She apologised for the tone of her chilly goodbye, which was for all the reasons I suspected, and I apologised for leaving her in the lurch so suddenly.
“It was a good conversation, and we agreed that when the dust settles, we’ll have a long lunch to celebrate five extraordinary years.
“‘It won’t be a teetotal one either,’ laughed Susanna, who gave up alcohol two years ago. ‘I’ll definitely need to get drunk after this…'”
Piers has lifted the lid on “the real truth” behind his Good Morning Britain exit.
The 55-year-old journalist said he was bombarded with messages from friends asking if he’d fallen out with Susanna after they watched her short monologue the morning after he quit.
In his column, Piers also revealed how Susanna had rushed out of the studio after him following his fallout with Alex Beresford the day before.
Piers walked out after the show’s weatherman slammed his co-star for his continual criticism of Meghan Markle in light of her Oprah Winfrey interview.
Piers was livid at being called out by a colleague and stormed off, prompting Alex to call him “diabolical”.
Susanna talked him into returning after a 20 minute break to “cool down”.
Piers says the weatherman is the only person he worked with on GMB who has not reached out since he left.
