SUSANNA Reid slapped down Boris Johnson this morning as he asked: “Who is Lorraine?” after his brutal telly grilling.
The Good Morning Britain chief fired back: “Lorraine is a legend!” after the PM appeared not to know who the ITV star was.
Ms Reid said as she brought the 30-minute long interview to a close: “Lorraine is waiting to take up all the issues you have brought up on this interview.”
But the quizzical PM muttered under his breath: “Who is Lorraine?”
The outraged GMB host then hit back: “Who is Lorraine? Lorraine is a legend!”
But Lorraine appeared to brush off the incident and ignored it totally as the show cut back to her after the exchange.
Praising her colleagues piece, she said: “Wow! Thank you, Susanna… a masterclass in a political interview.”
Lorraine Kelly has been the host of her own ITV daytime chat show for years, and has been on the nation’s tellies for decades.
Those watching at home couldn’t believe he didn’t know who the high-profile host was and took to Twitter to comment on the bizarre moment.
One person wrote: “Susanna #GMB “who’s Lorraine?” Oh Boris what a way to end your man of the people interview with GMB’s Susanna Reid.”
A second commented: “#GMB Imagine that the words “who is Lorraine?” Would bring down Johnson? More importantly as he panicked who was he expecting?”
While a third remarked: “’Who’s Lorraine’ was the funniest bit, do think he thought she was coming on #gmb.”
And a fourth added: “Who’s #lorraine? (Loses British public…) oh Boris what will we do with you?! Well done.”
The jaw-dropping moment came after the PM was made to squirm in a live GMB telly showdown for the first time in five years.
The no-nonsense telly host presented the PM with money struggles facing ordinary Brits and told him: “You’re just not doing enough.”
And she skewered him over the cost of living crisis and visas for Ukrainians in a fiery live appearance.
The GMB presenter attacked the convoluted system that means babies are being screened at the border.
Mr Johnson fired back: “The results are starting to be really excellent.”
The Prime Minister also insisted he was “honest” as he faced his first Good Morning Britain interview in almost five years.
Asked if he was a Partygate liar, Mr Johnson hit back: “If you’re talking about the statements I made in the House of Commons.
“I was inadvertently I was wrong. And I apologise for that.”
Susanna said the PM is “now just days away from elections that could decide his future” as hard-up Brits face choosing between “heating and eating”.
