Dr Jandu is a real person whose identity was stolen and used by Simran Bhogal to create the fictional character her cousin Kirat Assi believed she was in a real relationship with for nearly a decade.

The fake Dr Bobby persona was portrayed as a New York-based cardiologist, leading to dramatic scenarios and maintaining the long-distance relationship with her cousin. Kirat took civil legal action against the perpetrator, with the case settled out of court, making it the first successful civil claim related to catfishing in the UK.
