Teen Mom Amber Portwood accused of ‘poking fun at her own past domestic violence arrests’ in new photo

TEEN Mom fans accused star Amber Portwood of “poking fun at her own domestic violence” arrests after she shared a new photo about “fighting.”

The TV personality, 31, was arrested in July 2019 for domestic violence against her then-boyfriend Andrew Glennon.

In September, The Celeb Report revealed Amber was “on track” to successfully complete her probation after being sentenced to 906 days with a plea deal in October 2019.

Despite still being in the middle of it all, Amber appeared to joke about the serious topic while promoting her merch line, PortwoodAF.

In her latest promo photo, the Teen Mom sat on a bed in a pair of salmon-colored leggings and her white T-shirt with “Unfollow me” written on one corner of it.

Sitting criss-cross, she threw a pillow into the air and looked up at it, smiling.

Amber wrote in the caption: “Personally, I’m more into pillow fights these days but I’ll always be a #fighterforlfe”

She added some hashtags, calling herself a “fighter” and making a note of her “personal strength.”

Fans on Reddit accused her of making light of her past domestic violence arrests in the caption and were not happy about it.

One upset user wrote: “I can’t decide which is worse… 1) To think that Amber is so insanely tone deaf that she would add the hashtag ‘FighterForLife’ after two domestic abuse situation.

“2) She knows exactly what she is doing and genuinely takes pride in knowing she got away with it.”

Another commented: “Fighter for “lfe” (life) hashtag, like everyone should forget she’s literally still on probation for assaulting her ex while he was holding their child, and trying to hack through the door at them with a f***ing machete.”

A third said: “I know she’s not the brightest bulb, but surely even she can appreciate how this looks especially given her two domestic violence convictions? StupidAF”

Others told Amber she needs to “read the room” and called the whole thing “pathetic,” while another said: “Pillow fights are better than machete fights, I guess.”

In a photo posted last month, Amber showed off another merch item that seemed to reference her penchant for fighting, as well.

She sat on a windowsill, smiling, while wearing a sweatshirt that read: “I’m going to Portwood your a**”

Amber was arrested in July 2019 after Andrew accused her of hitting him with a shoe while he held their 3-year-old son James, who was one at the time, during a fight.

He claimed she tried to break down a door with a machete, as he and James were locked inside to protect themselves from Amber.

After the arrest, Andrew filed for emergency full and legal custody of James.

As part of their court agreement, Andrew has primary custody of James, while they share joint legal custody.

Amber has three unsupervised visits a week with their son.

After accepting a plea deal, it was revealed at the September 2021 court hearing that Amber is “in compliance” with her probation with “no future court dates needed.”

The conditions of Amber’s probation included parenting classes, psychological/mental health evaluation/treatment, substance abuse evaluation, random urine and/or breath testing, and more terms.

Amber told Us Weekly that she got into a “really dark period” months following the arrest.

She said: “I lost about 35 pounds in less than three months. My hair was falling out. When I say I went into shock. I literally, my body went in shock.

“I didn’t sleep for almost two weeks. I had to get out of that state of mind.”

Amber is also mom to daughter Leah, 13, with ex-fiance Gary Shirley.

She was also arrested in December 2010 and charged with two felony counts of domestic battery, one felony count of neglect of a dependent, and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery.

These charges were pressed after MTV caught on camera a violent fight between her and Gary.

She pled guilty to the two counts of domestic battery.
