TEEN Mom Catelynn Lowell was blasted as “sickening” for sharing a clickbait suggesting her husband Tyler Baltierra’s dad has died.
Fans weren’t happy with the Teen Mom OG star after she relayed the false news about her husband’s father on social media.
On Wednesday, Catelynn posted the misleading caption: “Devastated to confirm the rumors are true. Thank you as always for the outpouring love and support,” along with a photo of Tyler and his father Butch.
The post accompanied a link to a previous article detailing Tyler’s family’s struggle with substance abuse.
Fans took to Reddit to comment on the “distasteful” post writing: “Poor butch has been killed off on Cate’s Instagram at least 3 times now”
Others echoed the statement saying: “Her clickbait is always so sickening and exploitative of others,” and “can you imagine getting paid to make people think your father in law died??!”
Another user wrote: “This is pretty distasteful considering Butch’s history with drugs and all, I thought I was looking at a memorial post at first before I read the caption from OP. She knew what she was doing that photo is a choice too lol.”
Another chimed in: “I’ve seen this similar caption with a photo of Butch numerous times before.. does Catelynn actually write and post these herself, you think?? It’s so wrong.. and gross.. and weird?”
Tyler has had a difficult relationship with his father who has battled with a drug and alcohol addiction all of his life.
After years of trying, Tyler and Butch no longer have a relationship due to the distance between them and to his father’s choices when it comes to alcohol and drugs.
Worried about Amber
Unfortunately, Tyler’s sister, Amber may be following down their father’s path, as played out in an earlier episode of the reality show.
In the episode, Tyler’s mom, Kim, tell him and Catelynn, Amber is drinking and relapsed, and he responded, “Oh, Fuck.”
Although, Tyler said his sister “indulge in happiness,” Kim feared her daughter was following in the footsteps of her and Tyler’s drug-addict absentee father, Butch.
Tyler explained he understands how Amber’s children may feel not having their mom around sharing: “As a kid, you feel like what’s wrong with me? I’m just irritated with it. Why are you not putting me first?
“Why are you not here enough? Why don’t you want to be with me and hang out with me every weekend and go get high? It doesn’t make sense.”
In 2019 Amber was arrested and charged with assault and held on a $1,500 bond.
The mom of two went to rehab in 2018 after being arrested in 2013 for possessing narcotic equipment and a glass smoking pipe and spent 20 days behind bars.
She posted to her two children on Instagram at the time: “Mommy loves you two more than you guys may know right now… You both deserve nothing but the best and I will give that to you.
“I’m gonna miss you these 90 days. Just know I love you both with every fiber in me.”
In happy news, Caitlynn and Tyler are expecting their fourth daughter together.
The couple are already parents to daughters Novalee, six, and Vaeda, one.
They are also parents to 12-year-old daughter, Carly, who they placed for adoption when she was born.
