Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 to be ‘combined into ONE show’ as some cast members will be ‘fired’ after plummeting ratings

TEEN Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 will reportedly be combined into one show with some cast getting cut amid ratings woes.

According to The Ashley Reality Roundup, major change is coming to the MTV shows.

MTV is reportedly considering combining Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2

According to reports, ratings have executives scrambling to save the franchise

According to the outlet Teen Mom producers have been hard at work trying to save the franchise.

They are said to have decided to combine Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 into one show.

Sources told The Ashleys Reality Roundup no decision is final as of right now, however.

The casts combining will likely mean cuts, as suggested by the gossip site.

A source told The Ashleys Reality Roundup: “This is like their last-ditch effort to keep the shows going.”

Per the website, ratings have been an ongoing struggle.

In another report, The Ashleys revealed that Teen Mom 2‘s recent season premiere drew only 459,000 live viewers – the third-worst ratings in the show’s history.

Sources told The Ashleys that while it’s unlikely all 10 Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 cast members will remain on the show in its new format, not everyone on the shows is currently aware of the chatter.

The source said: “It’s circulating through the casts and crews but I don’t think it’s made its way to everyone.”

WEIGHING OPTIONS

Execs working on the shows are said to be mulling their options.

In addition to making cuts, they’re considering a combined format in which different episodes feature different cast members.

“That way it would only cover the girls who actually had something interesting happening in their lives at the moment,” one source told The Ashleys Reality Roundup.

Making casting cuts wouldn’t just mean saying goodbye to some cast members. It would mean producers losing their jobs as well.

Sources allege that those working on the Teen Mom franchise are facing many difficult decisions.

One insider said: “There are just too many people working on this franchise and it’s not brining in the ratings and money it once did.

“They needed to come up with a way to keep the show going but in a cheaper way. The casts salaries are enormous and it costs a lot of money to fly all over the country to film the girls.”

Another source noted how combining Teen Mom casts for Teen Mom Family Reunion left execs “pleasantly surprised” by how easy filming could be.

The insider said: “Everyone was in one place, making the cost, scheduling and COVID protocols much easier than going to the girls’ homes.”

GROWING FAST

Fans have watched the Teen Mom kids grow up on TV, but the cast has also grown.

One of The Ashleys’ sources said that production is weighing the casts ages in considerations as to where to take the show.

The source said: “These girls haven’t been teens in over a decade.

“It’s ridiculous that they’re still on a show called ‘Teen Mom'”

They went on: “Fans have been saying it for years, so it’s likely that the [new] show’s name will not be ‘Teen Mom’, or at the very least, will be changed to better reflect their current situations.”

YOUNG & PREGNANT

As for Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant, the future of that show is also uncertain according to the outlet.

The source told The Ashleys that it doesn’t appear the cast of that show will be part of the new show.

As previously reported by the site, Young and Pregnant is currently filming a new season.

After that, it’s anyone’s guess what will happen with the show.

Fans will just have to wait and see.
