TEMPTING Fortune contestants were left in tears as one player tragically revealed she was left widowed twice.

The brand new Channel 4 programme, which is presented by Paddy McGuinness, kicked off tonight.

It sees 12 strangers give up their luxuries to take on the toughest of terrains.

The 18-day-long trek will see the contestants face the temptations of home comforts.

However, if they give in, then the £300,000 joint cash prize will start to dwindle.

As the contestants gathered around at their campsite after their first full day, Carolynne opened up to her fellow contestants.

“I’ve been widowed twice, could you imagine that,” she revealed.

She continued: “First when I was 25 and I was seven months pregnant, the second when I was 43 and my husband died of a massive heart attack.

“But I still got up and I still dusted myself down and I still said ‘there’s life out there so go out and bloody live it’.”

Her tragic life story left the other 11 players in tears as she revealed living life to the fullest was her motivation for signing up to the show.

The retired trauma nurse is the oldest contestant competing on Tempting Fortune.

Meanwhile, viewers were all saying the same thing about one player just minutes into the show.

Lani started to complain as the contestants attempted to climb sand dunes, with the hopeful giving out about having to walk.

As she struggled to climb, she had demanded a helicopter.

The team then helped the 33-year-old complete the challenge as they feared she might quit – which would result in £25k being lost from the prize pot.

Taking to social media, viewers questioned why Lani even signed up to the show.
