Heartstopper Available from Thursday

If absence really does make the heart grow fonder, Heartstopper’s many fans – who were smitten from the off – will be utterly besotted following a 15-month wait for the hit coming-of-age show to return. Now we finally have the chance to catch up with cute couple Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), as well as Tao (William Gao), Tara (Corinna Brown), Elle (Yasmin Finney) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell). And it looks as if the new series will be every bit as funny, heartwarming and inclusive as the first, with Nick and Charlie getting used to being in a relationship and their friends figuring out their own love lives. Meanwhile, an exciting school trip to Paris is on the horizon, as are some rather less exciting exams. Welcome back, guys.

Untold: Jake Paul The Problem Child Available from Tuesday

To say Jake Paul is a divisive figure would be a big understatement. The hugely popular YouTuber turned boxer has millions of fans, but more than a few critics, who accuse him of being a wannabe whose only real talent is for self-promotion. This in-depth profile – the first instalment from the new series of Untold and timed to coincide with Paul’s fight against Nate Diaz on Saturday 5 August – attempts to get beneath the surface to discover the real Jake Paul. Featuring interviews with Jake, his older brother Logan, their parents, fans and many more, it tells the story of his rise to fame, the controversies that have dogged him and the unexpected success of his boxing career.

Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About Your Food Available from Wednesday

Here’s a documentary that’s guaranteed to put you off your food. Around 3,000 people die every year in the US because of illness caused by deadly foodborne pathogens, such as e. Coli and salmonella. Shining the spotlight on to the American food industry and its regulators, this feature-length documentary exposes their failures, cataloguing a number of shocking outbreaks from the past few decades and the inadequate response by US politicians. It also hears moving testimonies from people who have lost loved ones to foodborne pathogens, and offers advice on how to shop safely for food. Stomach-churning.

Mark Cavendish: Never Enough Available from Wednesday

Mark Cavendish is one of the greatest sportspeople this country has ever produced. A phenomenal cyclist, he stands level pegging with Eddie Merckx for most stage wins in the Tour de France – a remarkable 34 – and would possibly have surged ahead had he not crashed out of this year’s race. Now, with retirement on the cards, Mark’s story is told in this engaging access-all-areas feature-length documentary. It follows Mark as he puts his physical and mental health on the line to beat Merckx’s long-standing record, navigating highs and lows, including the five years of injury, illness and depression that followed the 2016 Tour. Featuring interviews with Mark and the people who know him best – including his wife Peta Todd and friend and former teammate Bernie Eisel – plus archive footage and heart-pounding clips of his greatest race moments, it’s a stirring tribute to a true sporting icon.

The Big Nailed It Baking Challenge Available from Friday

Anyone who’s ever watched Nailed It! – the hilarious competitive baking show in which inept home bakers attempt to recreate fiendishly difficult cakey creations – will know how much fun it is. Excitingly, the show has now got a spin-off, which isn’t all that different but still promises to provide plenty of entertainment. In this version, host Nicole Byer and expert Jacques Torres welcome 10 inexperienced but very motivated amateurs to the Nailed It! kitchen, where they’ll be coached by some brilliant, world-renowned pastry chefs and take part in some typically tricky baking challenges. At stake for the contestants is a whopping great cash prize that’s sure to change the winner’s life. We can’t wait to tuck in.

Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy Available from Monday

Prepare for a full-on blast of fantastical Manga magic. This rather oddly named animated series transports us to the Kingdom of Metallicana, which is under attack from the Dark Rebel Army. This bunch of badasses plan to resurrect the terrifying god of destruction, Anthrasax, and take over the world. Who can stop them? Well, Tia Noto Yoko, the daughter of the Great Priest, realises that the only way is to resurrect a great ancient wizard – Dark Schneider – who also once plotted to rule the world and is sealed inside her childhood friend Lucien. Will she risk unleashing this legendary, super-powerful figure?

Hot Yachts: Miami Available from Thursday

The success of series like Selling Sunset and Million Dollar Listing proves that we love watching glamorous salespeople going about their fabulous lives and selling super-expensive stuff to very wealthy people. This addictive new show does exactly the same, only this time the glam salespeople are selling super-yachts in Miami. And just like with those other series, there’s loads of drama, romance and jealousy among the highly-competitive brokers, and plenty of eye-popping luxury yachts to look at too. Among the brokers guaranteed to make an impact are the flash Nick ‘Mr Yachts’ Cardoza, current Broker of the Year Katya, ex-model Vika and Juno, one of the few men of colour working in the industry. So pull on a lifejacket, the water’s about to get choppy.

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Available from Wednesday

Action-packed Star Wars spin-off Young Jedi Adventures is back and ready to lift off once again. Following on from the first seven episodes of season one – which landed in May – here comes another batch of six exciting instalments. As before, the action centres on a group of Younglings, training with Master Yoda at the temple on Tenoo and learning what it takes to be a Jedi. Among them are Kai Brightstar (voiced by Jamaal Avery Jr.) and his best friends Lys and Nubs. This time, they’ll be honing their abilities and setting off on more spectacular adventures across the galaxy. May the force be with them.

Margaux Available from Friday

Anyone who can’t help feeling a little suspicious about home smart assistants might want to give this inventive teen horror the swerve. A group of US high-schoolers – including Hannah (Madison Pettis) and Drew (Jedidiah Goodacre) – are celebrating their final college days with a stay at a super-futuristic smart house, armed with a highly sophisticated AI assistant called Margaux. But what starts as a weekend of happy partying soon turns into something terrifying when Margaux sets about trying to bump off the residents. Expect a gory, technological treat that will ensure you never look at your Alexa or Siri the same way again.

Vanishing Act Available Thursday

In November 2020, Australian financial adviser Melissa Caddick went for a morning run in Sydney – and was never seen again. The supposed high-flyer had just been confronted by authorities over allegedly cheating 74 victims (many of them her own friends and family) out of $23million to fund an extremely lavish lifestyle. Three months later, surfers discovered <a human foot> inside a washed-up trainer, which later matched Melissa’s DNA. Wentworth Prison’s Kate Atkinson is mesmerising as the con artist in this compelling three-part drama, while the accompanying documentary The Real Vanishing Act: The Missing Millionairess (also on ITVX from Thursday) further explores a case which had the whole of Australia gripped.

Olivia Marries Her Match Available from Tuesday

She became famous trying to find The One on Love Island, but it was a man she’d dated before appearing on that show who has become Olivia Attwood’s Mr Right: Blackburn Rovers footballer Bradley Dack. The pair got hitched in June this year after a four-year engagement and, of course, ITV weren’t going to let that ceremony take place without their cameras gatecrashing the whole journey. Across four episodes – which also air this week on ITVBe (Tues to Fri TIMES) – we get an access-all-areas invite to everything from the wine tasting and dress fittings to the stag and hen parties and the big day itself as Olivia scores herself a husband.

The Secrets Of The Krays Available from Thursday

Sixty years on from their heyday, East End gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray still hold a fascination for many. The lives and crimes of these notorious twin brothers have been immortalised in all manner of films, TV shows and documentaries down the years, and here comes another. This three-parter – previously available on BritBox and ITVX Premium – claims to be the definitive account of the rise and fall of Ronnie and Reggie, explaining how and why they became so powerful, what lead to their dramatic downfall, and why the years they spent in prison only added to their legend. Bright outfits, even brighter personalities and a camp, chaotic, exuberant energy – it’s no wonder <Drag Race Philippines> is one of the most beloved international versions. Now it’s back for season two, and the ante has been upped with 12 fierce, fabulous drag artists from around the world competing. Actor, model, and drag artist Paolo Ballestero returns as series host, joined once again by the iconic Filipino-American RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente and popular Filipina writer and activist KaladKaren on the judging panel. Shown primarily in English with some portions in the Tagalog language.
