THE Big Bang Theory fans don’t have fresh TV plots to ponder over so they’re drilling down into the back-stories of some of its key characters instead.
This includes show favourite Sheldon Cooper’s girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler.
The bespectacled student, played by actress Mayim Bialik, 44, arrived on the set of the US comedy in 2010, in the season three finale.
In the following The Big Bang Theory series, she was hailed as Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons‘ “friend that’s a girl, but not a girlfriend.”
Yet now fans believe they have the quirky character’s name sussed.
Taking to Reddit thread Sudden realisation, one wrote: “Amy is played by Mayim Bialik.
“Mayim is an anagram of “I’m Amy.”
After making the clever observation of her name, which translates as the Hebrew word for water, another fan joked: “Sheldon would be impressed.”
Another then posted: “Mayim is also the only actress of the cast to have a doctorate.”
The American actress holds a PHD in neuroscience which she obtained before her time on the hit show.
Despite The Big Bang Theory rounding up with its 12th season last year, Mayim is still delighting its loyal fans.
Viewers confessed they were “reduced to tears” as the star made a cameo in spin-off show, Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage as the pint-sized genius who’s battling his way through high school pleasantries and features the voiceover of TBBT star Jim.
The talented actor can he heard in the season four premiere episode, titled Graduation.
Meanwhile, actress Mayim wrote on social media, thrilling fans of her brief comeback as Amy.
The star posted: “She’s back!!!!
“Young Amy makes a surprise appearance on tonight’s premiere of @YoungSheldon as she narrates part of the episode!! Here’s a clip!! The start of #Shamy… “
