THE CHASE fans were left open-mouthed as The Beast nosedived and fumed the team ‘did him dirty’ in heated final round.
It was a rare occurrence for The Beast, aka Mark Labbett, so he was not impressed to lose to a complete team of four contestants.
In Wednesday’s edition of the quiz show, Mark’s disbelief at getting a question on Alan Shearer wrong was clear to see and it meant the team walked away with a jackpot £25k.
He’d already lost to his four opponents – Paddy, Eleanor, Dickie and Hilary – individually, so it was salt added to his wounds.
Tensions were high as the team had managed to answer 20 questions correctly in the Final Chase.
But as Mark, 55, battled back, he faced several slip ups before host Bradley Walsh asked: “Alan Shearer scored 131 goals for what club?”
Mark immediately answered Newcastle United, before realising his mistake as Bradley posed the question to the contestants, who answered Blackburn Rovers correctly.
Not at all pleased, The Beast said shaking his head: “That’s a dirty question at this point in the game.”
One surprised viewer commented: “Don’t often see the beast intimidated.. #TheChase.”
Another said: “Love a beast loss #thechase,” and “Not often that #thebeast loses. Well played team #TheChase.”
One joked: “The Beast has been beaten. I repeat: THE BEAST HAS BEEN BEATEN.”
A fan added: “What a win, Beast fluffed it and the team were good enough to shove him back. Well deserved.”
The Beast has been beaten.

Taking to Twitter himself after the show aired, Mark wrote: “People say I am a bad loser – true- but I am quite comfortable with people playing well to win.
“Losing to lucky idiots on the other hand ….. grrrr :)”
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
