Quiz Master Anne Hegerty Chooses Panto Over Dancing On Ice
Anne Hegerty, best known as 'The Governess' on The Chase, has revealed that she turned down a major reality TV show in order to participate in a pantomime production. The 65-year-old star was approached by Dancing On Ice executives but ultimately declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts with her panto commitment.
The Choice Between Ice Skating and Panto
Although Anne expressed a desire to learn ice skating, she explained to The Mirror that the clash with her panto role swayed her decision. She spoke highly of the experience of performing on stage, working with an audience, and showcasing her acting, singing, and comedic skills. Anne joked that if she had chosen Dancing On Ice, she would have been "towed around behind a penguin" and never let go, which she considered quite sad.
Reality TV Veteran
Anne Hegerty is no stranger to reality TV, having previously participated in I'm A Celebrity in 2018. She braved the challenges of the Australian jungle before finishing in seventh place. While she won't be hitting the ice this year, fans can still catch her on The Chase, where she continues to impress viewers with her quick wit and knowledge.
It's worth noting that the lineup for this year's Dancing On Ice has already been revealed, featuring notable names such as Hannah Spearritt from S-Club, soap actors Ricky Norwood and Claire Sweeney, and radio presenter Adele Roberts. Unfortunately, former Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb had to withdraw from the competition due to a broken ankle.
As for the hosting duties, Stephen Mulhern has been confirmed as the new presenter, taking over from Philip Schofield. However, it remains uncertain whether Holly Willoughby will return to the show after allegedly facing a kidnap plot earlier this year and subsequently stepping down from her role on This Morning.
