The Chase’s Anne Hegerty warns “hard working” Bradley Walsh to take time off as she’s scared he’ll “have a heart attack”

THE Chase star Anne Hegerty was told “hard working” host Bradley Walsh to take time off to avoid having a “heart attack”.

The 62-year-old quiz expert said she was “in awe” of Bradley, 60, for his relentless work ethic, but admitted she “worried” about him.

Anne, who joined the show in 2010 as The Governess, may have a fierce facade on TV – but admitted she cares deeply for her co-stars.

Admitting she loves working with the host and has a great relationship with him, she told MyLondon she often reminds Brad to take time off.

Anne told the publication: “What you see on screen is exactly what [Bradley’s] really like, and right from the start he’s been so generous to all of us Chasers.

“I’m always kind of in awe of Brad. I think he’s such a professional and absolutely delightful. I admire him enormously.

“I once said to Brad that I worry so much that he works too hard and I’m afraid he’ll have a heart attack. And he just went, ‘Oh but I love it’.”

She added that the host “described the show as his pension” and is fairly certain he will “never leave”.

“And I don’t think us Chasers will be going anywhere either as we love it,” Anne also revealed, putting fans of The Chase at ease.

Having branched out from the gameshow with her appearance in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity in 2018, the quizzer now presenter her own TV show.

Anne credited her hosting skills on Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family to Bradley after “watching and learning” from him for many years.

The Governess said: “It’s brilliant being a solo presenter. I’ve been watching Brad for so long; I don’t think I’m all that good, but I’m better than I would be if I didn’t have him to watch and learn from.”

She told Yours magazine of the role: “I never expected it at my age and I love it. Just that feeling that there is something I can do well, that people actually seem to like. I feel like I’m living the dream.”

Anne recently revealed she often feels nervous on the ITV quiz show as she worries she will be “found out” and “look like an idiot” on TV.

She told the Metro: “It’s nice that I haven’t got to answer difficult questions.

“On The Chase there’s always this feeling of, oh no, today is the day I get found out, today is the day when they put a whole load of really tough questions in the final Chase on subjects I don’t know about and I look like an idiot.”

Anne has been entertaining viewers since 2010 with her quick thinking and rapid answers.

She admitted she struggles with physical intimacy as her Asperger syndrome means she “zones out” during sex.

Anne told The Celeb Report: “It took years of psychotherapy before I even considered dating. I lost weight, replaced my glasses with contact lenses and felt a lot more confident, but I find it really hard to hold down a relationship.

“The longest was with a man I met at the Mastermind Club. I’d fancied him for years and we were together for four months.

“Even though he lived in Brighton I still felt suffocated in Manchester. And sex was always better in my head, I felt like I was somewhere else while it was happening.

“It made me realise I needed space both mentally and physically in life, and I can’t make it work.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
