The Chase’s Bradley Walsh, 61, reveals he needs an operation for secret health battle that changes his appearance

THE Chase host Bradley Walsh has revealed his secret health battle that changes his appearance.

The 61-year-old has opened up about suffering from blepharitis, which gives him red, swollen and itchy eyelids during nasty flare-ups.

He admits he’ll have to have an operation in future to fix the problem.

Bradley told This Morning: “People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis.

“I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.

“So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I’m fine.”

The condition is not usually serious, but can lead to other problems, such as dry eyes, cysts and conjunctivitis, especially if it’s not treated.

But in some cases, sufferers can wake up with their eyelids stuck together.

It’s the second health scare Bradley has had in the past 12 months.

Last year he revealed he’s lost a stone and a half through boxing training after being warned he would DIE if he didn’t lose weight immediately.

Doctors told he is at high risk of heart problems after dad Daniel died of heart disease aged 59.

He was so shocked he gave up booze and fatty food.

The former Corrie legend revealed: “I’m back boxing training now. Full time. I’ve done about a stone and a half in weight.”

He told The Celeb Report on Sunday: “I had a hang-up because my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59.

“I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad’s age. So turning 60 was a bit of milestone.

“I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer. My heart guy said, ‘Look, Brad, you need to get fit’.’’

After turning 60 last month, and the dire warning from his cardiologist, The Chase host has totally quit booze and given up carbs.

Bradley hopes to alert others about the “silent killer” of heart disease — and encourage those at risk to get tested.
