Gino, 46, is well known to ITV fans for starring in the cooking segment on This Morning.
He also fronts his own show, Gino’s Italy: Like Mamma Used To Make on the broadcaster.
Fans were quick to respond, with one writing: “My misses is Italian and is also a Barbara what a coincidence #TheChase.”
A second mused: “Sadly there’s no Italian version of The Chase… yet #TheChase.”
Barbara was then tasked with locking horns with Chaser brainbox Mark Labbett.
Mark recently opened up about his surprise axe from The Chase US.
The Beast has become a household name following his iconic role on the ITV game show.
Following its success in the UK, Mark became the only Chaser on the American version and also joined the Australian show with co-stars Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace.
However, after two years on ABC’s US revival of the quiz show, Mark was unexpectedly dropped ahead of the third season.
