ANTIQUES Road Trip first hit our screens back in 2010 and has amazed us with some impressive collector’s items over the years.
One moment that really stands out is from back in 2012 when experts Charlie Ross and James Braxton managed to break the show’s records by selling a small statue for a HUGE profit.
In this particular episode they were given £200 to buy a range antiques and collectables that they thought would make them some extra cash during auction.
One item that grabbed their attention was a broken elephant figure, which they got their hands on for just £8.
Arriving at the auction in Buckie, Scotland, they thought that it would make a couple hundred pounds at most – and were left gobsmacked with the final price.
The pair couldn’t believe their ears when the ringman shouted £80 at the item, considering it was 10 times more than what they paid for it.
Things started to heat up when the online offers started to come through.
The ringman shouted: “£130 online that’s okay.”
But Charlie hopped out of his seat in excited and said: “It’s jumped to £130?”
As the offers continued to bump up in price Charlie looked around the room in shock and couldn’t hide his excitement.
The voiceover explained: “This is getting really interesting…
“There are no more bids in the room but the phone and internet bids are really picking up!”
As the price continued to go up and up, they couldn’t believe it when they managed to walk away with a £2,692 profit.
The ringman confirmed the sale by saying: “£2700… for the last time £2700, bids on the phone, are we all finished online at £2700.”
And it wasn’t just Charlie and James who were in total shock as the voiceover added: “Never, in the history of the Road Trip have we ever had a sale like that.”
Their victory comes after show expert Paul Laidlaw also made history on the BBC One show.
He spotted an old camera at an antiques store in Margate, Kent, while on the hunt for collectibles.
The star spent a measly £60 on it and managed to rack up a whopping £19,940, aftering selling it for £20,000.
It hit Anita Manning off the top spot when she bought a Tibetan bronze deity for £50, which went on to sell for £3,800 in 2016.
All money made during the auctions go to Children in Need.
