The Dog House viewers break down in tears as vets fight to save tragic pooch abandoned by owners in appalling state

THE Dog House viewers were left in bits as vets struggled to rescue an injured lurcher that had been seriously neglected and abandoned.

The much-loved Channel 4 series sees Cambridgeshire-based animal charity Wood Green rehome unwanted pooches with those looking for a four-legged pal.

On The Dog House, an injured lurcher was rescued from a ditch and brought to Wood Green

On last night’s episode, a member of the public brought in a dog they’d found in a ditch, and it was too much for viewers to handle.

One wrote: “Oh my, The Dog House brings joy every week but tonight’s is bringing tears too. That poor lurcher”.

“The state of his leg & paw, poor thing”, added a second.

A third asked: “The Lurcher on The Dog House, you poor thing. What happened to you?”

“Omg…the lurcher’s sad face”, commented a fourth.

A fifth said: “Gorgeous boy, hope he recovers and finds a forever home soon”.

The vets couldn’t say exactly how long the pup, who they named Manuel, had been alone and hurt.

One remarked: “One of the ways our job differs from doctors is our patients can’t talk to us”.

They quickly treated the dog, suffering from a broken leg, and he was placed in the kennel alongside other pooches.

“It blows my mind that anyone could take a dog that’s so loving and kind and do anything for you, and just treat it so badly. It really upsets me to think about”, said one of the team.

Later in the episode, Wood Green introduced Manuel to Luke and Kath, who were looking to give a dog its forever home, and it was “love at first sight”.

It took the lurcher a few moments to approach the couple, but he eventually calmed down and has how settled into his new pad.
