The Games’ Olivia Attwood is ‘heartbroken’ and on the brink of quitting after agonising shoulder injury

OLIVIA Attwood is worried she may have to pull out of ITV’s The Games after injuring her shoulder during diving training.

The Love Islander turned telly star is “heartbroken” that if she can’t fully straighten her arm by tonight’s live show, she may have to quit entirely.

The Games’ Olivia Attwood has admitted she’s on the brink of quitting after hurting her shoulder

Olivia suffered a nasty shoulder injury during training

Last night she fell to the bottom of the leader board after coming last in the hurdles.

Speaking to The Celeb Report, she said: “Tonight is swimming which is my strongest event and if I can swim like I do in training then it’s probably one I would medal in, but it all depends on how I feel today and what the doctor says.

“At the moment I can’t extend my arm straight and so it all depends on whether we can get the arm straight in time.

“My shoulder is being monitored all the time, but if I had to pull out now it would be heart-breaking after spending all this time training. I want to be part of it.

“The ideal thing to do would be to rest, but I’m only going to get this chance once, so I would like to be able to compete.

“It’s hard as well because I know my athletic ability is probably better than what I am able to showcase at the moment.”

Olivia’s fiance, footballer Bradley Dack, has been supporting her as he is no stranger to injury himself.

She went on: “Brad had a good chat with me, obviously he’s had major injuries the last couple of years and he said, ‘When you get injured it is frustrating but it is what it is. There’s no point getting your knickers in a twist over it, so to speak, but it’s still frustrating.’

“There’s a lot of emotion as I want to do everyone proud.

“I know I can’t help being injured but if someone were to beat me who I know normally wouldn’t, it’s frustrating.

“But this competition has shown anything can happen on the night. So many people have been favourites to win events and then have not won them, so anything can happen.

Olivia first noticed her shoulder was painful after diving training, then again after a bike crash with Phoenix Gulzar-Brown.

She added: “The overhead position where you lock behind your ears is quite unnatural and early in diving training I was getting pain in the evening, like an ache. It came and went. It got worse and I went for a scan.

“I had an injection to try to bring down the inflammation but just two days later I was in a crash on a bike with Phoenix and my shoulder bashed the barrier two days after the injection.

“It was such bad timing and I was in really bad pain. I was crying my eyes out for two days.

“It’s started to settle enough that I was able to start the competition yesterday but it’s touch and go. Hurdles was hard as you have to lift your arms and the impact of landing was uncomfortable.

“I was in pain bad after last night and I was frustrated with everything, but today I am trying to be positive.

“The main thing I was thinking going into last night was, ‘don’t fall’ because the doctor had said to me, ‘if you fall on your arm again, the chances are, that’s you out.’

“I won’t be able to recover from another impact.

“Last night all I could think about was, if I trip and I have to put my arms out to break my fall, I can’t even imagine the pain it would cause and that would be me fully out. So I was super-cautious.

“So at the end, I didn’t even really feel out of breath and then I realised I’d been maybe a little bit too cautious, but I don’t know if really I can be too cautious because if I’d have fallen I would have wished I’d gone slower.”
