The Grand Tour fans get a surprise Christmas present as new special A Massive Hunt is released early

FANS of The Grand Tour have received a surprise Christmas present as the new special A Massive Hunt has been released early.

Co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May can now be seen in all their glory hunting for treasure in a Madagascan adventure – back on four wheels of course.

Hammond, May and Clarkson pushed the knobs to released the new special

The latest episode has been released a day early as the trio admitted they were simply “tired” of being asked “When is the new special out?”

The 90-minute film is on Prime Video and follows the boys as they go in search of pirate treasure.

An example of the show‘s tone is just hinted at as the three announced the show’s early launch with a short video.

Clarkson said: “The point is we’ve had this constantly now for a year, we’re very, very bored with it, so we’ve decided that it can go out early.”

The trio travel to Madagascar on the new special

Fans have been waiting a year for its release

Cue the hitting of an array of knobs and of course, the endless possibility of related jokes.

Cars, silliness, explosions and even a Hammond injury are all promised as the motor enthusiasts return after nearly a year’s absence.

Clarkson told The Celeb Report recently: “Hammond is obsessed with pirates. I think they’re just aquatic burglars. Or wife-beaters. But I was very interested in where this quest would take us: Madagascar.”

The film starts with a drag race on the most expensive stretch of tarmac in the world, a ring road built on stilts out to sea.

But soon the trio find themselves on what is officially the worst road in the world. Clarkson in an armour-plated Bentley, May in a Caterham and Hammond in a Ford Focus RS on tank treads.

Spoiler alert: Hammond is set to have another ‘accident’

Lots of action and even explosions are promised

Clarkson said: “Both my colleagues made unwise choices as far as the cars are concerned. They really did suffer terribly. When I got into camp every night, I was three bottles in by the time those two turned up.

“Richard Hammond didn’t crash, which is an unbelievable achievement. But if he tells you he burned his bits with a self-heating army ration meal . . . he did. That’s a very funny scene.”

A Massive Hunt is streaming today on Prime Video.
