THE Great British Bake Off’s cringey Mexican Week has fallen as flat as a tortilla — and even been accused of hurting British trade relations.

The British Mexican Society branded Tuesday’s Channel 4 show “irritating”.
A spokesperson added: “It is unhelpful when we are trying to establish better relations with a country such as Mexico for trade deals etc.”
GBBO tweeted photos of Noel and Matt which fans branded cringey and even called racist.

Viewer Karen Geiger said: “The most treasured British institution, racism.”
Thorn Coyle fumed: “This isn’t funny, it’s offensive.”
Chicano Marine said: “Meh… it’s more the clothing that makes it cringey than the actual joke.”
But one viewer insisted: “Literally not a single Mexican person is upset by this.”
Professor Ana Elena González-Treviño, of King’s College London, said: “Collating Mexican cuisine with a simplistic, outmoded and ignorant stereotype puts an end to the merit that may have been in the inclusion of the Mexican theme in the first place.”
