Great Yorkshire Show viewers threatened to ‘switch off’
Viewers were confused to see the Emmerdale star on the show
However, viewers were confused to see the actor on the Channel 5 programme.
One viewer wrote: “Today at the #GreatYorkshireShow on Channel 5 well not really is it? It’s just yak yak yak from presenters! 30 mins in and seen nothing yet.. total disappointment.”
Another posted: “Only channel 5 could make the #GreatYorkshireShow totally unwatchable, congratulations.”
A third echoed: “Just watching Today at the #GreatYorkshireShow on #channel5. Stick to the acting Paddy.”
A fourth said: “Is that Paddy off Emmerdale…not sure about the presenting. #GreatYorkshireShow”
The soap star, 52, admitted he felt like a “fish out of water” while learning how to shepherd and felt sick at the thought of taking part in the trial.
Dominic revealed: “I’m not going to lie, I am a bit nervous.
“What if the dog ignores me, or I lose all the sheep?
“I am frightened I am going to make a fool out of myself in front of thousands of people at The Great Yorkshire Show.
“I’m looking forward to it, but I am also super nervous that I am going to be rubbish.”
Dominic was shown the ropes by farmer Erin Fflur McNaught and her sheep dog Theo.
She taught the actor everything she knew about sheepdog handling in one afternoon.
The TV star admitted he was still nervous about participating in the trial.
Dominic was told the dog would do all of the work, but he admitted: “I am very much a fish out of water at the moment, so I hope you can look after me.”
Dominic did his best to learn three basic commands which were, “come by”, “stand” and “away”.
He then took on the challenge and entered the show ring with his flock of sheep and Theo.
He eventually managed to get the sheep in a pen after a struggle.
Discussing the trial, Dominic quipped: “I was really nervous, I am still nervous now which is why I am gripping this stick.”
When asked if he would attempt shepherding again, he replied: “Oh, absolutely not.”
