Angellica had turned to the Maggie May singer and asked him if he wanted to take a career break like Elton John.
He confirmed it was something he was considering, telling the presenters: “I don’t need a break because I’m not fit. I’m really fit and I can do it.
“I just want to branch off and do something else, I am going to swing out with Jools Holland and just drop the rock stuff for a while.”
As the discussion turned to performing on stage and outfit changes, after it was revealed Beyoncé has nine, Rod said he typically has four outfits for concerts.
He revealed: “I change because I want to entertain. I’ve had critics say, ‘He went off to have a rest because he was tired’.”
“No, I was sweating my b******s off.”
At that point Roman, 30, was forced to cut Rod off and issue an apology to viewers at home.
Boy George couldn’t contain his laughter at the bad language and also apologised.
He told viewers: “Sorry for any language there. It is a family show.”
The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
