The One Show pulled off air for the ENTIRE WEEK in BBC schedule shake-up

The BBC has made a bold move by cancelling The One Show for the entire week, despite it being a long-standing favorite in their schedule. The decision comes as the broadcaster gears up for extensive coverage of Wimbledon 2024.

What to expect

Starting from Monday, July 1st, viewers will notice the absence of The One Show's hosts Alex Jones, Jermaine Jenas, and Roman Kemp from their screens. Instead, Clare Balding will take the reins to provide in-depth coverage of the prestigious tennis tournament across BBC One and BBC Two.

Shaking up the schedule

Typically, special events prompt The One Show to move to BBC Two, but this time the show has been completely axed to make way for Wimbledon coverage. This isn't the first time The One Show has been affected by schedule changes, as it previously made way for Euro 2024 coverage.

Viewer reactions

Fans of The One Show may not be pleased with this sudden change, especially as other daytime favorites like Animal Park, Rip Off Britain, and Escape to the Country have also been taken off the air for Wimbledon programming.

Wimbledon takeover

With coverage of the tournament starting at 2pm on BBC One and running until BBC News at Six, BBC Two will also see its regular programming paused to accommodate Wimbledon broadcasts from 1pm to 10pm.
