The One Show viewers seriously distracted by host Lauren Laverne’s outfit

LAUREN Laverne was back at the reins on The One Show yesterday.

But the presenting regular triggered a full blow debate online when viewers of the show were too distracted by her outfit.

While she’s an experienced TV host and radio DJ, Lauren has been part of The One Show‘s relief presenters since 2021, as a stand-in for Alex Jones.

Last night, she was joined by Jermaine Jenas on the chat show and welcomed Nick Grimshaw, Emma Willis, Scarlett Moffatt, Monty Panesar and Marianna Spring.

For her time in The One Show sofa, Lauren opted for a long-sleeved blue and white dress paired with black and white Converse trainers – but had no idea that she was at the centre of a rift on social media.

Viewers were torn while Lauren was presenting the show, unable to decide whether they loved her outfit or whether her dress was an unforgivable fashion faux pas.

Some took to Twitter to issue brutal comments about the dress, with one viewer comparing it to a “tent.”

This viewer angrily penned: “What the hell is she wearing is that a blue mermaid tent?”

But another viewer was clearly a fan of the garment: “Where did you get your dress from it is beautiful.”

Many other comments came pouring in.

“Does anyone know where Lauren Laverne’s dress is from that she is wearing on The One Show?”, a third social media user commented, trying to catch Lauren’s attention in the process by tagging her in her post.

Another added: “Why is the girl on the settee wearing a tent??”

“Why is Lauren Laverne wearing one of Demis Roussos’ kaftans?”, quipped a fifth viewer.

Thankfully for those who were desperately searching for the dress, fashion-forward books editor and hairdresser Nina Pottell found out where Lauren bought it from.

“Somerset by Alice Temperley at John Lewis”, she wrote, replying to one of the viewers.

Meanwhile, Lauren seemed unbothered by the fashion frenzy and looked at ease as she was chatting to Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw.

Both presenters talked about their new Channel 4 show titled The Great Home Transformation, which also happens to be a partnership with IKEA.

While Nick was in the studio with Lauren and Jermaine, Emma dialled in virtually

The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One.
