FANS of BBC One’s The Pact were tonight left “confused” when the show returned for a new series.
The hit series was back for season 2 with a new story and a new cast – all except one person.
The Pact is back for a second series – with Rakie Ayola playing a new character
Fans loved the return of the show, but found it confusing
Instead of following on from The Pact’s original story, writer Pete McTighe chose to create a whole new narrative, which involved different people.
But what left fans of the show confused, was that actress Rakie Ayola returned to the show playing a completely different character.
In the first series, which aired in 2021, she played a DS Holland who was investigating a murder.
But in season 2, she is now a woman called Christine, who is a social worker.
This was enough to confuse fans, who called out the blunder.
Taking to Twitter one fan said: “Well #ThePact is doing my head in already. It’s a standalone series, but main female character was a top cop in S1. In this series, she’s a social worker, and playing a totally different character. Go figure…”
While another tweeted: “I was hoping that @RakieAyola would play the same detective in both series of #ThePact investigating different crimes but it’s still great to have her in both series.”
This viewer commented: “Doing my head in that senior cop in last series, is now playing a totally different character in S2. #ThePact.”
This fan chimed in: “I love that she’s still in it but a bit confusing making her two different characters #ThePact.£
While this fan added: “I’m so confused, wasn’t she a police detective in the last series. What’s she a therapist now #thepact>”
Speaking about being on The Pact again, Rakie Ayola told the BBC: “I’m thrilled to be working again with Little Door and BBC Wales leading this talented cast to bring Pete’s wonderfully mysterious story to life.
“As an Exec-Producer on this series, it’s hugely important to me to see the wealth of opportunity this production is offering both to established talent and those new to the industry both behind and in front of camera.”
Written and created by Pete McTighe, the second series of The Pact tells a suspenseful and emotional story over six episodes.
The series follows social worker Christine’s (Raki)e family, oldest son Will, youngest son Jamie, and daughter Megan, are trying to get on with their lives after the recent tragic death of their brother Liam.
As they look forward to Megan’s wedding, the family have their lives turned upside down when a stranger, Connor, arrives in town claiming a connection that nobody could have imagined.
As buried secrets come to light, they must consider who they are and grapple with morality and divided loyalty.
I'M LOVIN' IT

As their lives spiral out of control, a terrible pact may be all that can save them.
