Some fans have had some serious complaints on the show

The drama stars Aidan Turner (Poldark) as a clinical psychologist Joseph O’Loughlin who falls into a case revolving the death of a young woman named Catherine.

The drama continued as officers DS Devi (Anjli Mohindra) and DI Ruiz (Shaun Parkes) further expressed their notions that Dr Joseph O’Loughlin has some involvement in the death but it wasn’t the dramatic stories that got the viewers at home talking.

As DI Ruiz and DS Devi continued to investigate, many fans at home were less than impressed by the detective’s performance.

One user took to Twitter to slam the character of DI Ruiz, saying: “#DIRuiz in #TheSuspect on @ITV is the most irritatingly stupid copper character I’ve ever come across. A tool. A total plonker. He makes me so angry that I want to smack him one around the face.”

Another highlighted: “Ohhh these two Coppers are just the worst! Beyond annoying.”

A third annoyed fan said: “These coppers don’t inspire much confidence.”

The reaction from fans clearly left them distracted from the high stakes drama as viewers at home kept their criticisms rolling in.

One social media user slated the pair, writing: “These 2 detectives are mind-numbingly bad.”

A second concurred: “Time to watch the dimmest police ever.”

As a third denounced the characters, adding: “The two police officers have to be the thickest pair ever.”

Lead star of the ITV thriller, Aidan, recently revealed how he felt about taking on the role in the show.

Speaking to the RadioTimes, he said: “A lot of the jobs [I’ve had] in recent years have been either fantasy or period or not contemporary.

“This felt different and pretty refreshing actually.”

Fans are used to seeing handsome Irish star Aidan as the clean shaven, long haired Ross Poldark.

But for The Suspect, he has switched up his look and has short hair and a HUGE beard.

With one final episode to go, fans of the show will be looking forward to finally getting the answers they are craving as the truth behind Catherine’s death is unveiled.
