The Undoing’s Hugh Grant and Charlie Brooker team up for spoof Netflix documentary about the coronavirus pandemic

THE Undoing’s Hugh Grant and Charlie Brooker are teaming up for a spoof Netflix documentary about the coronavirus pandemic.

Charlie – best known for satirical shows Black Mirror and Wipe – will be turning his sharp mind onto the last 12 months for his latest Netflix project.

Hugh Grant will be playing a “repellent” historian

In the mockumentary, Hugh will be playing the role of a “repellent” historian.

“I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually. Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020,” Hugh told Vulture.

“It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”

Other than this little tease, little is known about the upcoming project.

He was most recently seen in The Undoing

He’ll be working with Black Mirror writer Charlie Brooker

Charlie originally promised not to do a Wipe about 2020 – the last official one aired in 2016 – but gave fans a special Antiviral Wipe earlier this year.

It showed Charlie taking on the headlines and TV as the world grappled with the virus.

For this he was joined by Diane Morgan and Al Campbell for their roles as reporters Philomena Cunk and Barry S**tpeas.

Earlier in the year, Charlie said the world might not have an appetite for his dystopian anthology series Black Mirror.

Charlie said he wants to return to his comedic roots

Speaking to the Radio Times, Charlie said: “I’ve been busy, doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing.

“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those.

“I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
