The Vicar of Dibley takes foul turn as Geraldine wears soiled underwear as face mask – and sneaks in VERY rude message

THE Vicar of Dibley took a foul turn on Monday when viewers saw Geraldine wear a pair of soiled underpants as a face mask.

The hit 90s comedy recently returned to the BBC for a series of lockdown specials and episode three, the finale episode, saw Geraldine – played by Dawn French – sharing her final sermon over Zoom and praising the NHS.

She also revealed that she has asked her local parishioners to take part in the Great Dibley Mask Design competition after “the masks we were told were unncesscary and pointless have now been declared vital and compulsory.”

But it seems some of the locals didn’t quite grasp the concept of the competition, as she received several Halloween masks, an egg box, a shoe and cabbage leaf.

And shocking viewers, a pair of used underpants.

“In third place from George Strout were a pair of underpants,” she shared, adding: “But it might have been a nice idea to wash them first George.”

Second place “from Amelia Kitteridge” was a “very nice, very safe” mini tent that was placed over your head.

But when it came to sharing first place, Geraldine accidentally put her husband’s mask on, sneaking in a very rude message.

The mask read: “Stay the **** away,” and as she placed it on and saw herself in the camera, she shared: “In first place… no, no, sorry, sorry, sorry that’s my husband’s message to me!”

First place was, in fact, a N95 mask from “local nurse Sarah”, with Geraldine stating “if it’s good enough for the NHS it’s certainly good enough for the rest of us.”

Other masks sent in included shoes, cabbage leafs and Halloween masks

Geraldine also praised the NHS

“Without the NSH we’d all be losers, and this is my message to all of you, bless the NHS,” she concluded.

The three ten-minute Christmas episodes have seen Geraldine facing the challenges of 2020, including taking sermons on Zoom.

The show also featured a Black Lives Matter scene where the bubbly vicar took a knee in support of the movement.
