ALMOST 40 years have passed since The Young Ones first aired on the BBC – and many fans have been wondering what the cast have been up to since.
The classic British sitcom, which first aired in 1982, revolved around the hilarious lives of four grubby students sharing a house – but things didn’t always go as planned.
Among the cast, Mike – played by Christopher Ryan – was one of the most memorable characters in the beloved series.
Known for his portrayal of cool-cat Mike, Christopher went on to have a hugely diverse acting career since finishing up his Young One’s stint.
He popped up in Bottom with Rik Mayal and Ade Edmondson as Dave Hedgehog, in Only Fools and Horses as Tony Driscoll.
More recently, he played one of Edina’s unloved ex-husbands in Absolutely Fabulous opposite Jennifer Saunders.
The star has even lent his voice to a SpongeBob SquarePants character.
His theatre career has also spanned several decades, most recently appearing in Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense in 2015.
From appearing on University Challenge to duetting with Cliff Richard, the show made waves in the cult comedy scene until they drove a bus off a cliff in the series conclusion.
The show, which also starred Rik Mayall and Nigel Planer, revolved around four students sharing a rather grubby house.
Its legacy has lived on ever since, helping to bring alternative comedy to British TV in the 80s and making household names of its cast.
