Loose Women will also be interrupted today for the news

This Morning kicked off five minutes late today to make room for an important news item.

Holly told viewers:  “Now, as you might have noticed, there’s a slightly different schedule on ITV this morning.”

“We’re bringing you the latest on the situation in Ukraine via our colleagues at ITV news both at 11 o’clock and midday.”

ITV is expected to interrupt all programmes today for the hourly news.

At midday BORIS Johnson vowed to “hobble” Russia with crippling sanctions after Vladimir Putin “unleashed war” on Ukraine.

In a rare and sobering TV address to the nation the PM said: “Diplomatically, politically, economically – and eventually, militarily – this hideous and barbaric venture of Vladimir Putin must end in failure.”

Bombs and missiles began falling on Ukraine at dawn shortly after Putin declared war on the country in a chilling televised address.

Mr Johnson was woken at 4am for an urgent call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before chairing a Cobra meeting in Whitehall.
