THIS Morning fans have spotted something huge that’s missing from Phillip Schofield’s statement as he quits the show.
The presenter, 61, announced on Saturday afternoon he would leaving the ITV programme “with immediate effect”.
Phillip has left This Morning with immediate effect
The presenter released a statement today confirming his departure – but fans have spotted something huge from the statement
Phil didn’t mention his former co-host in his statement – despite the pair working together for 13 years
In a statement posted to his official Instagram account, Phil said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning, but recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
“I’d like to thank everyone what has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
However, viewers of the flagship show have pointed out how Phillip didn’t mention his co-presenter Holly Willoughby.
The pair have hosted This Morning together for 13 years.
Writing on social media, one fan said: “Phillip Schofield has left This Morning – issuing a statement with no reference to Holly Willoughby who will stay on the show.”
A second said: “Working with someone that long and no mention of them in your statement…”
“Holly paid tribute to Phil but he has nothing to say about her interesting,” said a third.
The presenting pair saw their once-close relationship crumble in recent weeks.
The Celeb Report revealed earlier this week that Phillip faced the axe from This Morning amid a “seismic” summer shake-up.
Holly’s statement read: “It’s been a great 13 years presenting This Morning with Phil, and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.”
She added: “The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”
It comes after The Celeb Report revealed that the rift forming between the pair – that has become apparent in recent weeks – began YEARS ago.
Fans are convinced that Alison Hammond will replace Phil on the sofa and front the show with Holly.
Meanwhile, Dancing on Ice’s future remains uncertain following Holly and Phil’s rift.
This Morning viewers are convinced Alison Hammond will take over Phil’s hosting duties
