As they appeared on screen following an ad break, they were surrounded in a light covering of smoke.
Phillip said: “Don’t worry, we’re not on fire.”
He then explained that it was in fact down to the new 12 at 12 came, which gives fans a chance to win £12k.
“We’ve got a bit of smoke and a bit of dry ice, it’s all gone a little bit showbiz. I thought it was on fire for a second,” he said.

The smoke appeared once again later in the show and Holly questioned if Gino had in fact already started cooking.
Meanwhile, Samantha Womack appeared on the show today to discuss her return to the West End.
The 53-year-old reprised her role as the White Witch in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, just weeks after having a lumpectomy.
Giving an update, she said: “I’m really good. I was diagnosed three, four months ago with breast cancer.”
The actress – best known for playing Ronnie Mitchell on EastEnders – explained that she didn’t have a lump and just randomly tested.
“It was really incredible because I didn’t find a lump, I didn’t feel unwell.
“There had been a lot of illness around our friends and family and I just thought I’d get a random check and I had an ultrasound, and it showed a little shadow – at that point it could be anything, a cyst… then I had further investigations and then that diagnosis.
“I was lucky, it was less than two centimetres. I had a lumpectomy, which is just a piece of tissue removed and five lymph nodes.
“The mad thing about cancer, when you have it, you understand there are so many different roads, different diagnoses, it is a terrifying world. It’s terrifying at the beginning but if there was ever a time to have it, there are so many new treatments now that are changing the face of cancer, it’s amazing.”
