In the most radical shake-up of the BAFTAs in their 75 year history, the BBC One broadcast will be split between the main ceremony hosted by British acting legend Richard E. Grant and a brand new backstage BAFTA studio which Alison will head up.
In a move away from the seemingly never ending list of awards, for the first time ever just the final four awards will be broadcast live.
Chatting about landing the gig, Brummy Alison said: “I’m so excited to be hosting at this year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards with THE Richard E. Grant.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun bringing the glitz and glam of backstage to everyone watching at home around the world.
“From hanging out with the stars to celebrating the biggest night for cinema, and joining the discussions with film fans, get ready for good vibes only!”
Richard, 65, will take over from 2022 host Rebel Wilson who went down a storm with viewers thanks to her savage jokes at the expense of everyone from Meghan Markle, JK Rowling and Will Smith.
Richard said: “I feel hugely privileged to be hosting the EE BAFTAs for the first time and the opportunity to celebrate the very best of the extraordinary range of this year’s films.”
In a surprise move the awards, which will take place on Sunday February 19, will be held at The Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank rather than the usual Royal Albert Hall.
Radio 1 beauty and former Strictly Come Dancing star Vick Hope host the celeb-packed red carpet.
This year’s nominated films and talent will be unveiled this Thursday 19 January.
