THIS Morning star Craig Doyle is being backed to be Phillip Schofield’s permanent replacement.
His odds have been shortening since yesterday after viewers praised his “chemistry” with Holly Willoughby.
Craig Doyle and Holly Willoughby couldn’t stop laughing
Bookies have him at 4/1 while Dermot O’Leary still edges slightly ahead, according to BettingSites.co.uk.
Our insider told us: “Craig has a lot of other projects currently but would of course be interested in a permanent position.
“Who wouldn’t, it’s a dream role for any presenter.
“If the response from This Morning viewers is anything like the past couple of days, then fans of the show certainly won’t be disappointed to see him on the sofa more permanently.”
Holly looked at ease alongside her co-host today, having presented the first half of the week with Josie Gibson.
Although This Morning has told viewers Holly will have a selection of guest hosts on rotation, many fans think they’ve found the perfect duo with her and Craig.
One fan wrote: “Love Holly and Craig…am I the only one seeing the chemistry.”
Another commented: “Holly having a laugh with Craig.”
She was left in hysterics after a tough few weeks when she dropped an X-rated joke at Craig.
The TV presenter, 42, was in tears on Monday as she released a statement about Phillip Schofield’s affair scandal.
But today, she turned her frown upside down and shared a laugh with her Irish colleague on their second day of filming together.
At the top of the show, Craig said he was looking forward to being back in Ireland this weekend to see his four-legged companion.
“We all get giddy about seeing the dog,” said Craig.
Holly replied: “Well, your dog does particularly love you. Look at this greeting Craig’s dog gave him when he come home.”
The clip – which played Donny Osmond’s Puppy Love over the top – showed Craig’s pooch jumping into his arms.
Craig said: “If I could jump on him I would, it’s just easier the other way around.”
Holly added: “It’s just the sweetest thing. Look at the tail!
“I think if you had a tail, you’d be wagging.”
Craig cheekily replied: “My tail is wagging”, before the pair launched into hysterics.
Holly then gave Craig a slap on the arm as if to tell him off for his cheeky innuendo, adding: “Well, there you go. That’s a very happy dog.”
