This Morning’s Alison Hammond, 47, says ‘I’m having a baby’ after speaking to guest who got pregnant at 50

ALISON Hammond realised she might have a shot at having a second child at 47 after hearing a guest’s story on This Morning.

Hosting the show alongside Dermot O’Leary, the 47-year-old felt inspired to have another baby after a guest told her story of giving birth at age 50.

Vanessa Feltz joined the duo via video to talk about interesting things people had achieved later in life.

One woman, 91, called in from Cambridge to tell them how she had gone back to university at 88, while another spoke about trying scuba diving at an older age.

But Alison declared “I’m having a baby” after hearing the final caller’s story.

Shelly called in to tell how she got the shock of her life when she found out she was pregnant at age 50.

The mum explained: “I thought I was going through menopause and I found out I was pregnant. I already had a 20 year old and it changed my life so so much.”

Alison replied: “Imagine going to the menopause and finding out you’ve had a baby. I’m 47 I thought it was the end of my time. I could have another baby.”

She added: “That could be me,” and then declared excitedly before the commercial break, “I’m having a baby.”

Coming back from break, Dermot joked: “Congratulations Alison, such good news and announcing it here – what a scoop.”

They continued the joke throughout the next segment when soap expert, Sharon Marshall, was giving an update about the fate of Aussie soap, Neighbours after Channel 5 announced it would no longer air it.

In a bid to show her support for the fledgling soap, Dermot suggested she name her hypothetical baby after two of Neighbours’ most famous characters.

“You should call your new child Scott or Charlene,” he said, and Alison responded: “That’s such a good idea.”

Alison is mum to son Aiden, 16, whom she had with her ex-husband.
