BELLE Dingle and Tom King rekindled their romance when he returned to the village after a decade of absence.
But next week, the new vet finds out what he missed in Belle’s life during his time away from Emmerdale – and he’s left shocked.

He’s had an awkward family reunion
Belle Dingle tries to push Tom towards his uncle Jimmy King
Tom (portrayed by James Chase) has been reluctant to mend his relationship with the members of his family and Belle decides it’s time for her to take action.
Coming up on ITV, Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) plots a way to get Tom to bond with his uncle Jimmy King (Nick Miles) and it all seems to be going well.
However, Jimmy makes a faux pas when he accidentally reveals that his father Carl killed his grandfather Tom, whom he was named after.
A devastated Tom is unable to comprehend or even deal with the information and he leaves in a hurry.
Tom struggles to process the news but Belle is by his side, comforting him, and she chooses to give him a glimpse of her own dark past.
Tom left Emmerdale and Belle behind in 2013, meaning a lifetime of events have flown by during his absence.
Daunted, Belle is determined to be open about the many hurdles she’s had to jump through as they chat at the Dingles’.
But it’s a lot for Tom to take in when Belle confesses how she accidentally killed her former friend Gemma Andrews and he makes a run for it.
Belle worries that she may have ruined everything between them.
Later on in The Woolpack, Tom is on edge after Belle’s confession when Jimmy approaches him to defend Carl once more but he can’t bear it.
The pair of men square up and their argument continues to escalate – can Belle help Tom?
While this remains to be seen, here’s a reminder of who Gemma Andrews was and what happened to her.
Belle became close friends with the late Gemma in 2014 but when Sean Spencer and her became close, rivalry was rife between both girls.
Gemma had a troubled past with Sean and even underwent an abortion when she found out she was pregnant with his child.
It all came to a head when Gemma stormed out of a party, tired of watching Belle and Sean get closer.
A fuming Gemma insulted Belle who was then trying to reason with her but she eventually retorted before being slapped.
Belle retaliated to the slap by pushing Gemma to the ground – which resulted in her hitting her head on a rock.
Gemma began bleeding although she still tried to walk home alone but she never made it as she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
She was found a day later by Harriet Finch and then rushed to hospital where it was revealed she had lost brain stem function.
Knowing she wouldn’t recover, her father Dom decided to have her life support switched off and Belle paid the price by being sentenced to three years in a detention centre.
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
